How to lighten your hair at home: 4 natural remedies

If you want to change yourself, and you don’t want to spend time and money on a salon, try bleaching your hair at home!

Of course, we would advise you to contact professionals still, because lightening is a complicated procedure that can ruin either your hair or your image with an undesirable result. If you still want to try, we recommend one of these safe home remedies.

Lemon juice

This is one of the best natural bleach. It is used both to whiten the skin and to lighten the nails. Lemon juice is also great for hair. The cuticle rises from the sunlight, which allows the lemon juice to penetrate the hair shaft. But keep in mind, although this is a natural remedy, it can still damage the curls, so we recommend applying moisturizing masks a few weeks before bleaching.

You will need:

  • 1 Cup of fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 Cup warm water (for normal hair)
  • or 1/4 Cup conditioner (for dry hair)

Mix the ingredients and apply them to the areas of hair that you would like to lighten. Sit in the sun for 1-2 hours with this mask, then wash off and use a moisturizing balm. You can do this procedure once a week until you get the desired result.

Honey and vinegar

Both of these products have whitening properties that help lighten your hair. Of course, you will not achieve platinum blonde, but one shade of your hair will definitely become lighter.

You will need:

  •  1 stack You will need an Apple cider vinegar
  •  1/2 Cup of honey
  •  1 tablespoon coconut oil
  •   Towel

Mix the ingredients and apply them to your hair. Wrap your head in a towel and leave the mask on overnight. In the morning, wash it off and apply a moisturizing balm. This procedure can be repeated once a week until you achieve the desired result.

Baking soda

This product is also known for its whitening properties, especially when it comes to teeth. Baking soda is a universal tool that can be found in every kitchen, try it if you dream of bright highlights.

You will need:

  • 1/2 Cup warm water
  • 1/2 Cup baking soda

Mix the ingredients and apply the resulting paste to your hair. Periodically look at them to make sure that you get the desired result. On average, you should keep this mask for 15 minutes on your hair, but if your hair is not lightened enough, leave it for a while. Wash off the paste with a mild sulfate-free shampoo and apply a moisturizing balm.

Peroxide

The most famous tool used by our mothers and grandmothers for a beautiful blonde is hydrogen peroxide. Keep in mind that it can not be used permanently, as it can significantly damage your hair and lead to their loss.

You will need:

  •  3% hydrogen peroxide
  •  spray bottle
  •  water

Dilute the peroxide with water 1:1, if you want to lighten your hair strongly, use it cleanly. Wash your hair with shampoo and blot the excess water with a towel. Comb your hair well so that there are no knots. Put it in a bottle. Spray on the strands, running a cotton sponge through the hair, so that the peroxide is well distributed. Leave it on your hair for about 30 minutes, if you have dark hair, you can leave it for longer, only check the result periodically. Wash off with warm water and use a moisturizing conditioner.
